Potion Perfections

She crossed her arms. "Good. Less competition." She grinned at him, trying to lighten the mood.

Toru poked his temple with his wand, slightly burning his skin.

She raised her eyebrow at him. "What are you doing?"

"Telling the voices to shut up."

She nodded. "Is it working?" she asked seriously.

Toru massaged his temples. "The pain covers them. They fall silent."

"How many are there? What do they say?" she sat down and watched him with curious eyes.

"They watch when I lie, laugh when I fall, yell when I resist my impulses."

"I don't like them," she concluded. "I only have one voice, but I keep her quiet most of the tie. Her name's Rei."

"Tell her my friends say hello. One stands out, but I don't know his name. I don't want to know," he said, wincing.

Aveira nodded. She didn't like talking about Rei. It tended to dredge up painful memories.

He winced again and shook his head.

"Are you all right?" she asked worriedly.

"They are angry at me."

"Tell them I said to shut up and leave you alone."

He started rubbing his temples again. "Sexist bastards."

She raised an eyebrow. "What are they saying?"

"That 'This bitch can't order us around! Yeah, we can do what we like!' Surprisingly, the main voice stayed silent."

Aveira grinned. "They wouldn't be saying that if they met me in the physical realm."

"I bet they wouldn't," he said, wincing again and rubbing his temples.

She randomly leaned forward and kissed him lightly. "That'll give them something to bitch about," she said.

"Wow...they went silent," Toru muttered.

She smiled triumphantly. "Cool."

"Well, thank you for that."

"Any time," she said, smiling flirtatiously.
